| Memoria, 2003 (wooden spoons) |
Here a simple iconographic object of domesticity – the wooden spoon - is transformed through evocations of hair, blood and wire. Resonant with echoes of consumption and domestic routine, the repeated spoon motif evolves with ritualistic implications. Like a prescribed dosage or spoonful of medicine, the image is invested with notions of blood offering and feminine self-sacrifice. |
